These clients moved into this former Sutton at Hone farmhouse property in 2021. The property included a small orchard area of mixed fruiting trees in various states of health. Plus three unwanted and labour intensive ornamental conifer “roundels.”
That same summer all the fruit trees suffered a significant aphid attack but then, Ladybird larvae and later the Ladybirds themselves sorted that as nature does. However the damage was done for this season!
Worse still, come late summer their dogs were playing with and eating the inevitable windfalls! This resulted in unfortunate, no need to describe here problems, and so the fruit trees had to go! And GO they did in quite rapid fashion!
Not the conifers, as they don’t but, naturally a year later the fruit tree’s stumps did what fruit trees do and started pushing out new shoots! So our SUPERB! “Green Graftsmen” Brian & Lee were brought in to grind out all of the 42 stumps down to the taproot once and for all!
THIS JOB WAS COMPLETED ON A FIXED PRICE OVER 2 WEEKS INCLUDING FORCED CIRCUMSTANTIAL DELAYS.
PARTICULARLY STONY GROUND CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH THE TUNGSTEN CARBIDE TOOLTIPS WEARING OUT FASTER THAN EXPECTED! REPLACEMENTS COULDN’T BE SOURCED UNTIL AFTER THE QUEEN’S PLATINUM JUBILEE WEEK HOLIDAY!
TECHNICALLY THE ESTIMATE WAS FOR TWO MACHINES WITH TWO ‘GREEN GRAFTSMEN’ FOR UP TO THREE DAYS & THAT TARGET WAS HIT ALMOST EXACTLY! WE WENT OVER THE ESTIMATED HOURS SLIGHLTY BUT. NOT MORE THAN AN HOUR AND THE PRICE WAS FIXED REGARDLESS!
